'I never knew, or am likely to know again, a more humble man with such a talent for which he wanted no recognition and went under a number of pseudonyms. His objective was that he had done it for himself, that he had achieved something, and to make others think and interpret his music for themselves.'
'There was a time shortly before the end when he told me that he did not want to have the archives exhumed other than to those selected few, but I do not think he meant it so I have presumed, not to defy his wishes, but to celebrate his achievements by doing so'
Preparations are well under way and much filming and interviewing of people involved is and has been completed for a ninety minute long documentary about Louis, his works and his life given his enormous contributions to Slovakian music and many people. To be titled ' 'Náš drahý priateľ ' (Our Dear Friend') I have been involved, as have his many friends and colleagues. It is being broadcast next summer. Here is a snip of a recording of the Walton Violin Concerto that was made in early 2019 in Bratislava with BFSO (his own invention of ex-professional musicians, students and those who have aspired to a professional orchestra), Louis conducting and the violin prodigy Chloe Chua. A magnificent performance that is the central part of the story and features in its entirety the televised recording amongst many others of his own works and the most interesting and unusual tales of an extraordinary life and talent.

There had been an aborted attempt to record the Finzi a year earlier by Margot and Louis but for a number of reasons it did not work out and was aborted principally owing to their squabbling over anything and everything. That was very much them together for long periods and would result in arguments. It was very much their way.
Then one year on they met up again in Bratislava to try again with the BFSO.
This time they were really happy and it shows in this recording
The last time I saw him was for lunch in the grounds of Ely Cathedral followed by the customary five pints of real ale.
He spent his last year in the Fenlands of East Anglia. I asked him why he liked the area so much to which he replied ''Look around you at those huge skies'. The landscape seems to go on forever with no hills''.
''So'? I asked
''Well my dear chap here and hereabouts it seems there's more space to run away''
''I listen to ITFC frequently surrounded by it all. Whether it helps at all I've no idea but it seems to do so at the time'' - LS November 2019.
Early last year Louis received an invitation from Miss Zhou to go to Singapore to hear and see as she told him ''I think you'll very much like'. Please come'.
He phoned me the day after saying
'' I've seen and heard something very, very special. I never understood Walton in that interview saying the only thing he had to look forward to was death but now I do.
Dear chap, do listen to 21:22 to 23:00 and ask yourself what is left when you have loved beyond love and lost'' ?
'With Love From Siberia' came the video this morning
He would have loved every aspect of this wonderful performance
