The old Waveshare Game Hat strikes again! In the best possible way!
INSTRUCTIONS FOR DRIVER SETUP ON EXISTING RETROPIE BULD:
Go to:
Game Hat Wiki: https://www.waveshare.com/wiki/Game_HAT
Scroll down to Method 2
Download the Game-HAT-000000 6 numbers (000000) change each version
I renamed the zip folder and removed the 6 end numbers and the dash to make it easier. Do this.
place zip file on USB Drive in the root directory.
plug USB DRIVE into your Pi 4
grab a keyboard and plug it into your Pi 4
Turn on the Pi 4.
*Note, some folks may experience a non working screen when putting the Pi 4 into the Game Hat. this driver set will also remedy that. You have to boot the Pi 4 on another monitor in order to complete the rest of the driver installation if this happens to you.
Enter terminal by pressing F4 when emulation station loads up to button configuration prompt:
Type:
sudo tar xzvf /boot/Game-HAT.tar.gz
Hit enter, wait for screen run down then type:
cd Game-HAT/
Hit enter, then type:
sudo ./Game-HAT
Hit enter.
NOTE: Everything is case sensitive and must be typed exactly how I have it, even the spaces.
That's IT! You're ready to reboot and configure your Waveshare Game hat to work with your existing Retropie build on your Raspberry Pi 4! Enjoy!
